It's taken 3 years but I've finally convinced my family that it's ok to not do all the obligatory gift exchanging. It's lots of fun to watch the nieces open their gifts and play with them and all their new stuff - and to me that's worth more than ANYTHING anyone could buy me at a store.

I have told them now that if they really insist on giving me a gift that they make a donation to some charity in my name - the last two years they have come up with two really AWESOME charities and I am really glad that someone else is benefiting from the money that would have been a DVD or a shirt or something that I don't need anyway. "Stuff" is the last thing I need.

I love the idea of making Christmas gifts! I have this friend who made me AWESOME cd's for my birthday, and I cherish them and the thought that was put into them. :) It's far more personal.
