I had a gym teacher who lost a finger for the very same reason - in his case the ring got caught on a basketball hoop rim - granted not so smart to be wearing a ring while you're dunking, but same thing. And then he got divorced. So...indestructible may be bad :)

I remember said teacher, and still have nightmares about him!

On another note, we found my engagement ring on sale for $100 and it came with 2 wedding bands (his and hers). My husband never wears his because he does auto work and is worried about catching it on something. He will bring it out of the safe now and then and wear it out if we go out somewhere special. I am so glad that we didn't spend a lot on it just to have it sit in the safe.

My wedding band was a plain gold ring and I wanted something with a little bling! So we actually ended up buying an anniversary band for about $300, and soldering it to the plain band. I wore it for about a year until I got annoyed catching it on things at work and I stuck it in the safe also.

I pulled my rings out late last summer and spent $130 having them sized so I can wear them again. I have to say that I haven't taken them off yet.
