Taxes redux
Got an email from my tax guru Edie:
“Hey there – just started on our taxes and geez. I am using (for now) TaxAct.com, like I told you about – and it SUCKS this year! I have used it for the last 3 years and it’s been great – a nice support database, info about deductions, comparasins with national averages, etc. THIS YEAR – they are charging for that same information. You have to upgrade to the DELUXE version for 9.95. So I am thinking that I am not going to use them this year. I know your buddy Raul talked about a site in his blog that I think I am going to try instead. Just wanted to give you a heads up…”
I got my W2 from my FT job last week and have yet to start doing my taxes. How are the rest of you doing out there? Any tips?

Why is it you get all your info like the 2nd or 3rd week of January, EXCEPT there’s always that one thing you need that doesn’t come until the 2nd week of February? This is the electronic age…we should have all this stuff on January 2nd….it’s all being kicked out of computers automatically, there should NOT be delays!!!

I’m a little frustrated with how the downloadable version of TA works this year. I have a lot of investment data to enter and prior years it would just step from account to account automatically. This year it brings you back to the account list where you have to click to select the account then type in the data.
