Quick question for my readers …
I was at Staples today getting some ink for work and the guy printed off my receipt which came with a survey that I could complete over the phone or on the Internet. The gist of the survey was to give feedback how the customer service was (I adore the guys at Staples – almost all of them know me by face and by my paper preference … sick I know) and to enter myself for a chance at a … Continue reading
This is what I look like, folks …
Yeah … I’ve yet to post a picture on this site and while I’m waiting for my “real” wedding shots to come in, I’ve been relying on my friends to share theirs with me. This is the first non-blurry shot that we’ve received that actually has both of us in it. And I think this is right after the cake cutting … that’s the only thing I can think of in terms of why I’m gesturing as such.
Random updates
Well – the Husband and I have not seen hide nor hair of our neighbor since the gas card incident. I thought about that today because my gas gauge is hovering at less than a quarter of a tank and $15 would put me near full (I love the Rattling Death Trap – it doesn’t take much to fill that tank.) So I chalk this up to karma – Hubby and I were talking last night and we both know … Continue reading
Crockpot Chicken Stock
No, you haven’t accidentally stumbled upon a cooking blog. I found this recipe the other day and it was so easy that I felt compelled to share with all of you. I’ve been looking for a good chicken stock recipe for awhile. When I cook rice, I like to cook it in chicken stock or broth and since rice is something of a staple in our household, it gets pricy to buy it off of the shelves. So I buy … Continue reading
Weighing in on seat infringement
I took a red-eye flight once from Las Vegas to Milwaukee – a friend of mine had gotten married in Sin City and I had never been to Vegas. Tickets were cheap and I paid for them with cash. (I had just started breaking the credit card habit …) I had no clue that the red-eye would be as full as it was. I had a window seat if memory serves, but the woman between me and the aisle seat … Continue reading
Around the blogosphere, in your backyard
Happy Friday friends and readers. My email got way backed up while I was away last week and when I was cleaning out the inbox tonight, I found a quick note from my buddy Raul with a tip on how to save money at the coffeeshop: “Caribou Coffee charges $1.45 for ANY mug refill regardless of size (at least reasonable size), vs. getting a 20 oz large for $2.00. So greener, plus saving ~ $.55/day. Not a ton, but if … Continue reading
Job Fair Etiquette
I had to take a little road trip over the lunch hour to deliver some extra job applications to the job fair where my company’s HR person was hanging out for the day. The job fairs my company has attended in the past are either feast or famine – if we hold them around graduation time, you’ll see more students and the like trolling for jobs. If they are held in late fall or winter – not so successful. Although … Continue reading
The honeymoon’s over
I was really looking forward to Monday with my husband. I had left for Iowa last Wednesday and had spent Wednesday and Thursday without him. Friday was pre-wedding madness, Saturday was the wedding itself and Sunday was spent saying goodbye to friends and family and making the drive back to Rochester. Husband and I both had Monday off and I was looking forward to sleeping in, drinking coffee and just being lazy that day. At least that was the plan … Continue reading
Lending money to strangers – what would you do?
I was on the phone with my mom, rehashing some wedding tidbits and contemplating sleep when the doorbell rang. A quick glance at the phone told me it was 9:30 at night and I couldn’t help but wonder – who the heck would be ringing my doorbell at such a late hour? Long story short – it was a new neighbor who had moved in a few doors down. Her daughter (and grandchild … we think …) were stranded up … Continue reading
I am back and I am married
Hey everyone … I’ll be getting back to regular posts shortly, but I just wanted to say hello and to thank everyone for the well wishes. The wedding went off without a hitch (a few bits of drama here and there, but they all resolved themselves by 3:30 on Saturday afternoon) and although I’m sure I’ll never remember every single details – here’s a couple that I want to share: – Husband and I rarely hold hands. We’re more the … Continue reading
