Another reason to be proactive …

One of my coworkers died this morning on her way to work. Details are sketchy, but Minnesota got another dusting of snow (dusting? Who am I kidding – the skies opened up and we got dumped on) and this person was killed in a car crash.

Luckily, she elected to take advantage of the life insurance offered by our company and she opted to take the largest policy offered to our employees – so that’s money her family will see sooner rather than later. But now I’m sitting here thinking to myself – how much did I elect to take out on my life? Is all of my paperwork in order in case the worst possible happened?

I didn’t know this employee personally, but her death makes me realize my own mortality. Regardless – there’s a family that’s heartbroken this afternoon and children who will grow up without their mom. Please keep my co-worker’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

  1. Goodness, how terrible. Yes, even if you’re young, make sure you have your will and life insurance taken care of. One never knows…

  2. Thanks so much for the taking the time to post this information. With the economy the way it is right now with all the layoffs and more to come; government spending and deficit out of control; the continued housing slump; one wonders where to turn for help. It sure is nice to know that there are people out there like you that can help folks such as myself. Thank you.
