Have you read lists and lists of side hustles? Are you also being told to start a YouTube channel or to start a podcast? Here are some great side hustles that are rarely mentioned:
Here is the List of Forgotten Side Hustles
Non-Licensed Plumber and/or Handyman
The original side hustle?
Anybody can learn the basics of plumbing and carpentry. Usually, the hardware store gives you such great advice that you can perform like a seasoned plumber. Most people just need plumbers for simple jobs, and don't really require a licensed plumber -- nor can they find or even afford a licensed plumber! Just advertise appropriately and honestly about your qualifications, and you can avoid any legal squabbles.
Tutoring
I personally tutor local kids for the ACT and SAT in a group setting, and can make up to $1500-2000 per session for 2-3 hours of work. At the very least, you can tutor younger students for $50+/hour.
Pro-Tip: Tutor in libraries or other public places to keep the kiddos (and yourself) in a safe environment.
Gardener
Here's a list from Bob Vila of Top Side Hustles for Gardeners.
Deliver Groceries and Other Items
I'm pretty sure Wally or Beaver did this one, but now there are apps!
Enjoy driving? But don’t enjoy having strangers in your car? Sign up to drive for grocery delivery apps. Check out Instacart or Spark Driver (Walmart’s delivery app) for grocery delivery side-gigs.
As with grocery delivery, food delivery has become increasingly popular over the past couple of years. Food delivery is an easy-to-start side hustle, with a ton of apps like Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, Postmates, SkipTheDishes (Canada only), and Menulog (Australia and New Zealand only) where you can sign up to become a driver.
Rent Out Your Home or a Spare Room
Remember all the widows in Old West movies that ran boarding houses? All those poor old widows were put out of business by the Holiday Inns of the world. But they're back!
You already spend time caring for and maintaining your home, so why not make some extra cash from it? Renting your home or spare room has big earning potential.
You've heard of Airbnb, of course. It is the most common way to rent out your home. But there are others, too. You might also other apps like Vrbo, Agoda, or Plum Guide (UK only).
